Winter Festival and Term 3 Starting dates

Dear Playgroup families,

Can you believe another term has passed us by? As the saying goes, time does fly when you are having fun and fun is certainly what is had on our playgroup mornings! The room is always filled with such life and warmth with the hum of children playing and parents connecting - such a cosy haven in the cool winter months.

We ended our term with our little winter festival – making paper lanterns and delicious apple turn overs and other treats.

In playgroup we always endeavour to keep our end of term celebrations simple and sweet while still finding a way to connect with the changing seasons and the natural world. The Winter solstice is a special time of year, when the sun is farthest away in the north and the days are short. It’s a time of drawing inwards and quiet reflection, well, as much as you can when you are caring for little people!

In our busy modern parenting lives it can sometimes feel difficult to find the time to slow down. Finding small moments in our days to connect with the world around us and our children can mean so much. Maybe it’s a walk in the winter sun together walking slowly, slowly at your child’s pace? Maybe it’s noticing the bees collecting pollen on the blooming wattle flowers or snuggling together on a picnic rug and watching the clouds go by? In these simple, sweet moments we can let our children develop thier sense of wonder and reverence for the natural world.

We would also like to say a big thank you to our Friday facilitator Karen, who is moving inter-state with her young family. It has been a delight to have Karen as part of our little playgroup family - best wishes for this new chapter in your lives, you will be missed!

Playgroups will resume in Term 3 on the following dates:

Monday session : 29th of July

Tuesday session: 23rd of July

Wednesday session: 24th of July

Thursday session: 25th of July

Friday session: 26th of July

We hope you all have a lovely Winter holiday and look forward to seeing you next Term.

Blessings,

Jemima, Linnea, and Caitlin
