Camp Week
This week has been Camp Week at Croydon Hills Primary School!
After recently visiting the Year 5s at Camp Howqua, it has been great to visit the Year 3s at Camp Toolangi and the Year 4s at Camp Manyung this week. Today Year 2s have their sleepover at school, the Year 1s their Staylate, and Preps their Camp Day.
Thank you to our dedicated staff and parent helpers who put in the hard yards to ensure the children's experiences were so fulfilling.
Head to our school's Facebook page and next week's newsletter for more pics!

Later this term staff will begin the task of allocating students to classes for 2025. As per the norm, our staffing allocations and final class structures will then be announced in late December.
As with our teaching teams, class groups are developed after careful consideration, balancing a range of issues and needs. These include factors such as academic ability, behavioural challenges, friendships, and previous teachers.
A valuable part of the process is stakeholder feedback:
I encourage families to trust our school’s judgment and, like I do, value our teachers as high-calibre people that care first and foremost for our children. Ultimately, it is our current class teachers, as professionals with all available information, that are in the best position to place students in classes. Further, I am sure that you would understand that it is not always possible to accommodate all requests and that an important part of any student’s journey through their schooling is the development of vital life skills. This includes meeting, getting to know, and working with different personalities.
As a parent, I am conscious of the changing landscape that involves children and young people sometimes spending more time connecting with their peers online as opposed to in person. I find it hard to keep up with the different social media platforms, what they do, how they work and any risks associated with them. To help us to all navigate this and ensure that our children and young people are safe, this Monday 28th October from 6pm-7.30pm, Croydon Hills Primary School will be hosting a ThinkUKnow presentation. All parents and carers are encouraged to attend. ThinkUKnow Australia is an evidence based education program delivered nationally to prevent online child sexual exploitation.
ThinkUKnow Australia is a partnership between the Australian Federal Police, Microsoft Australia, Datacom and the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. The program is delivered in collaboration with policing partners New South Wales Police Force, Northern Territory Police, Queensland Police, South Australia Police, Tasmania Police, Western Australia Police, as well as Neighbourhood Watch Australasia.
The presentation will be delivered by a local law enforcement member and an industry volunteer. The presentation is pro-technology and addresses topics including self-generated child abuse material, online grooming, sexual extortion, and importantly encourages help seeking behaviour.
This is a fantastic opportunity for you to learn more about young people and the online environment, and how you can help them to be safe and responsible users of technology.
Note: This is a parent/carer event only. Separate sessions are being organised for the older cohort of students. More information will be provided once dates are set.
