World Teacher’s Day lunch

Our staff were both overwhelmed and delighted by the generous and delicious morning tea and lunch provided by so many of our supportive families today in celebration of World Teachers Day. Several of them were overheard saying it's one of their favourite days of the year! The abundance, variety and tastiness were so appreciated by all who enjoyed the meal in our staff room and it was a joyful celebration at the midpoint in a very busy term.

Thank you to all who cooked and bought food to contribute as well as those who wrote cards and notes to the teachers, they really love reading them all.  And a special thanks to the dedicated Parents and Friends helpers who worked tirelessly to set up, serve the staff and clean up. Our staff felt all the love and appreciation from our wonderful community and we thank God for you and the blessing you are!

Summer Music Recitals

Here are a few sneak peeks at some of the pics from our Secondary Summer Music Recital, which took place earlier this week. With the Primary one the following night, they were a brilliant showcase of musical talent across the college. More highlights to be shared soon.

Year 10 Ecology and Marine Studies Excursion

On Tuesday this week, the Year 10 Ecology and Marine Studies class undertook an excursion to the Marine Discovery Centre in Queenscliff.  While the class had been examining the types of organisms that live in aquatic environments, and the environmental factors that affect their survival at school, it was quite another thing for them to board the Kyena, venture out into Port Phillip Bay and see these organisms in real life.  Students saw water samples pulled in from the Bay and marvelled at the range of life found in these bay waters, including tiny starfish, crabs, oysters and sea dragons.

They looked on in wonder as gannets dived into the waters for fish and seals basking in the sun on rocky platforms found in the bay.  They listened intently to Harry, our incredibly knowledgeable Fisheries and Wildlife guide for the day, who explained how these organisms interacted with one another and with other non-living factors, in such an engaging manner. It was truly an eye-opening and rewarding experience that everyone in the group thoroughly appreciated.
