2025 Student Leadership

The college is proud to announce that the 2025 College Captains and Vice Captains have been appointed.  Next year, the college’s student group will be ably led by our new College Captains, Ruby dS and Josiaah E, and our new Vice Captains, Christelle VdM and Matthias.  The college would like to congratulate these students on their important appointments and looks forward to working with them as student leaders in 2025.

The college would also like to take this opportunity to thank our 2024 student leaders, Nina T and Kynan M as College Captains, as well as Mabel M and Delandt P as Vice Captains, for their incredibly dedicated and diligent efforts throughout the year.  Their initiative and energy in leading the Senate and advocating for students within the college allowed them to lead events, such as Relay 4 Life, engage actively with the primary school on a number of initiatives, present project submissions to the College Executive, represent the college at a myriad of college events and connect with community groups, such the St. Vincent’s Care Nursing Home.

We are so grateful for their commitment to the college through these leadership roles and for the genuine leadership they have provided, and now want to wish them every success with their VCE exams and in their post-secondary endeavours.

Runner-up award for Kate Rees from Victorian Associate of the Teaching of English

From entries all around Victoria our very own Head of English Department, Kate Rees, has been selected as runner up for the Victorian Associate of the Teaching of English (VATE) Story in Miniature writing competition in the Teacher Category.

"VATE's Story in Miniature writing competition has drawn to a close and this year we received 343 entries from students and teachers around Victoria. Transforming one story into a piece of polished prose in fewer than 500 words is no easy feat! It requires planning, precision and an unexpected element of surprise. This year, the winning entries best represent the essence of the competition theme. Congratulations to all students and teachers who made the competition shortlist. The judging panel was impressed with the range of stories and the interesting approaches that each person took toward creating their own story in miniature."

First in the Victorian Coding Challenge

The Victorian Coding Challenge 2024, organized by the Mathematical Association of Victoria (MAV), took place at the vibrant community hub in Docklands. The event was held over two dates: 18  October for Years 7/8 and 25 October for Years 9/10.

We are proud to announce that Team PVCC, comprised of our talented students, competed against the best mathematical and coding minds from 60 schools across Victoria and emerged victorious, claiming first place in the state! This is a remarkable achievement, especially as our team placed second last year, surpassing schools that have traditionally dominated the competition.

Our Year 8 team members:

Jethro K, Izaak E, Arnav C, Jackson DG, Joel B,

Johan J, Braidan W, Jonathan E.

Our Years 9/10 team members:

Christopher R, Matthew R, Jack C,

Nicholas G, Finn B, Jacob F, Tyson W.

The challenge featured a series of increasingly complex coding and mathematical tasks, requiring outstanding collaboration, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Our students demonstrated exceptional teamwork, resilience, and expertise, making the PVCC community incredibly proud. Congratulations to all involved!
