Respectful Relationships and Berry Street Program
Our Grade 4 students returned this week from an unforgettable experience at The Summit camp, where they put their Respectful Relationships learning into action. The camp provided the perfect backdrop for our students to demonstrate the values of empathy, teamwork, and resilience that we’ve been exploring throughout the term. In every activity, from teamwork challenges to personal development tasks, our grade 4 students showed how deeply they’ve embraced the program, supporting one another and celebrating each other’s strengths.
One of the key moments of the camp was the Monster Run, a challenging obstacle course that pushed our students to their limits, especially when they realised they had to do it twice.
Throughout the run, we saw incredible displays of character strengths, particularly resilience and perseverance. Students encouraged each other when the going got tough, showing kindness and teamwork by helping their peers over obstacles or cheering them on. This event was a real highlight, as it allowed students to realise the power of their strengths in overcoming physical and mental challenges and showed them that life is easy when we pump each other up instead of tearing each other down.
Help-seeking was another important aspect that emerged during the Monster Run and throughout the camp. Our students applied the strategies they’ve been learning, such as recognising when they needed assistance and confidently asking for help from their friends or teachers. This created a supportive environment, where no one felt alone in the face of difficulty. The confidence to seek and offer help allowed our students to feel empowered, fostering a sense of community and collective resilience. Spending my last week at Sacred Heart with this group of grade 4s was truly special
I would like to take a moment to sincerely thank the Sacred Heart community for the incredible opportunity to be a part of such a supportive environment. Over the last 5 years, I’ve had the privilege to work alongside incredible staff, amazing students, and wonderful families who have made this journey truly special. While it is bittersweet, I will deeply miss working here and being part of this vibrant community. The memories, friendships and shared successes will always hold a special place in my heart. Thank you for making my time here so fulfilling.
Thanks
