Year 3 Scienceworks Camp

Mrs. McGrath, Miss Bulte, Ms. McKay, Mrs. Stroud and Mrs. Tench were thrilled to have the opportunity to take the Year 3 students to Scienceworks for their Year 3 sleepover.

Our adventure began in the planetarium, where we embarked on a quest to find a new home in the galaxy. We joined Jack on an exhilarating journey through the Solar System, exploring questions such as

How are the worlds of our Solar System alike?

How are they different?

What must those worlds have in order for humans to live there?

We travelled through our cosmic neighbourhood, from the icy rings of Saturn to Jupiter's volcanic moon Io, and the subzero methane lakes of Saturn's moon Titan.

Next, we visited Sportsworks, where students raced Cathy Freeman, tested their reflexes, shot hoops, and explored their athletic abilities.

On the second day of camp, we ventured into the Air Playground, learning about the science of aerodynamics through play. The students even got to design and fly their own paper airplanes! In our second exhibition of the day, we explored the world of modern and ancient technology. Students marvelled at Australia’s first-ever computer, explored sustainability, and learned how technology works.

The Year 3 students were fantastic throughout camp, and we had an unforgettable time at Scienceworks!

Year 4 Summit Camp

The Summit Slayers, DTI BADDIESSS, and Minions were our three tribes for the Summit Camp, where our Year 4 students had the chance to truly unleash their greatness—and they certainly did! We were amazed by their positive attitudes, behaviour, risk-taking, kindness, and teamwork throughout the  thrday camp.

Over the three days, students participated in a range of activities that challenged them to step out of their comfort zones and push themselves to their limits. These included:

Tash’s Ladder

High Wire

Flying Fox

Orienteering

Laser Skirmish

Monster Course

Bush Challenge

Night Walk

Plus many more fun activities in between.

Students also filled out GMICs (Greatest Moments in Camp) over the three days, highlighting the amazing things their peers did during camp.

A big shoutout to Blake, Lottie, and Olivia, who won the Summit Survivor Medallions. These students were voted by their peers as those who unleashed their greatness, displayed amazing values, and stepped out of their comfort zones during camp.

Make sure you chat to your kids about how awesome their experience was on camp! It’s always fantastic for teachers to see students in a different light, and this cohort demonstrated amazing values and qualities throughout the camp. We were incredibly proud of each and every one of them.
