Reflective writing from Year 6 students

6A entered the kitchen this week full of excitement and anticipation about what they would be preparing and the skills they can further develop in their final kitchen classes in primary school.

6A were keen to share their reflections about their four years of kitchen classes.

From Team Broad Bean

Every cooking Session has been amazing. These four years have taught me a lot. I would always not pack too much food because I would know the cooking food would fill me up. I can't wait for graduation! I was so happy when I got my knife licence. I would want to cut food at home. Apple buns again please!

From Team Nasturtiums

Overall I think cooking is great. Mainly because of the experience. I definitely think cooking is a great subject overall and the process while making the food is the best. Cooking is wonderful because of the class environment. I enjoyed working with my friends as a team, as we all pitched in on different things. Cooking also allows us to find out more about culture and tradition through food.

From Team Parsley

It is a delightful experience to learn helpful cooking skills whilst collaborating with your peers. The best part is we get free food! Its even better knowing that we have cooked it ourselves!

From Team Warrigal Greens

In the years of cooking - we all agree pizza and apple buns were the most amazing menu's and we are so glad we learnt to prepare these from scratch. Can we prepare apple buns again?

Alongside sharing their reflective thoughts, students voted for the best foods they have prepared.  Apple crumble, apple buns, apple crumble muffins and apple pie were among the most popular menu's.

Students also loved making Gozleme, curries, pasta, pizza, and cakes that contained vegetables such as carrot, pumpkin or zucchini.

Look out in the next newsletter for 6B's reflections and enjoy some photos of their favourite menu items.
