Catholic Identity

Mercy Prayer

We pray for the Sisters of Mercy, who established our school and for the priests who have  served at St. Mary’s.

It is through their vision,  determination and strong faith that we enjoy the benefits of a Catholic Education here in Mooroopna.

We are proud to be a Mercy School, where the values of love and justice are taught and lived every day.

NEW NEWS!

October - Mission Month!

We support a number of Catholic organisations each year - Caritas Australia during Lent, St. Vinnie’s during our Winter Appeal and Christmas Giving Tree and Catholic Mission during October.

Catholic Mission is the Pope’s international mission agency that supports the gospel scripture: “I have come that they may have life and have it to the full.” (John 10:10).

Catholic Mission contributes funding and provides project support to church-run initiatives in Africa, Asia, Oceania and South America, as well as remote dioceses within Australia.

We will celebrate a Crazy Socks Day on Friday, 25th October to raise funds for Catholic Mission.

Students are asked to wear their normal school uniform, with crazy socks!!!

A gold coin donation is asked to participate in this fundraiser.

We aim to raise $400 on this day, which will contribute towards a school bus to safely transport students living in Mongolia to and from school.

NEW NEWS!

October - Month of the Rosary.

Catholics traditionally observe October as the month of the Holy Rosary, with the Feast of the Holy Rosary being celebrated on October 7th.

The Rosary is a series of prayers including the Apostle’s Creed, the Our Father, the Hail Mary and the Glory Be.

There are four mysteries of the Rosary, which are traditionally prayed on particular days of the week.

The Mysteries of the Rosary are meditations on the life and death of Jesus and Mary, from the Annunciation to the Ascension. These include the Joyful Mysteries, the Sorrowful Mysteries, the Glorious Mysteries and the Luminous Mysteries.
