Creating Futures Together
The WHSC Stage Band provided some wonderful music for those arriving at the Arts and Technology Show last week. Under the direction of Will Jones, this ensemble have come a long way this year in developing their sound as a group, and have learnt a lot from Will regarding the techniques involved in playing jazz.
We still have a number of events coming up this term. The Beginner Concert Band will be performing at the Victorian School Music Festival at Hawthorn Town Hall on Thursday November 14th. This will be a wonderful opportunity for these students to hear the sound of their ensemble in a music venue with excellent acoustics. They’ll also receive valuable feedback about what they’re doing well, and how they can continue to improve in their playing.
Our major event for this term is the Spring Concert, to be held on Tuesday 19th November in D01 from 7 – 8:30pm. Tickets cost $5 each, and can be purchased through the following link: https://www.trybooking.com/CWLBJ
All student ensembles will perform at this concert, and there is an event on Compass for everyone involved, so please provide permission for this event ASAP. Ensemble Soundchecks will run throughout the day in D01 so that students are well prepared for their performances. We look forward to seeing many of you there!
