The Hill Art & Technology Exhibition 2024
Creating Futures Together
This year’s The Hill Arts and Technology Exhibition was a memorable and vibrant celebration of creativity, bringing together students, families, and the community in a spirit of pride and accomplishment.
On a wonderfully warm and breezy evening, the event began with the school band performing in the library courtyard, setting a lively and welcoming tone as parents, guardians, and community members made their way into the school. Visitors were greeted by an inspiring display of creativity, with two dedicated rooms showcasing the imaginative work from students in Years 7 through 12 across visual arts, performing arts, and technology.
The evening’s program opened with an acknowledgment to Country and a motivating speech by Khairi Razaai, our Visual and Performing Arts Learning Area Leader, who set the stage for the celebration. Following Khairi, our Student Executive Leaders, Hannah Wright, representing Creativity, and Shay Coxhead, representing Respect, shared their thoughtful reflections on the importance of the arts in fostering a supportive and innovative school environment.
We were also honoured to have guest speaker Ingrid Wood, the Education & Public Engagement Coordinator at the Museum of Australian Photography, who shared her personal journey into the creative arts and her extensive experience in arts education. Her words resonated with all, inspiring our students to see the arts as a vital part of their personal growth and future paths.
Throughout the evening, many awards of excellence were presented by our Learning Area Leaders for Visual Arts, Performing Arts, and Technology, along with our principal, Fern Brisbane, and our student leaders. The achievements and dedication of our students shone through in every piece on display. A highlight was the announcement of the annual Art Competition winners, with congratulations to Stella Aye Pe and Alex Johnston for their outstanding contributions.
The crowning moment of the night was the presentation of the grand Principal’s Award to Stella Aye Pe for her evocative manual-to-digital rendering of a three-point perspective Visual Communication Design artwork. Principal Fern Brisbane also shared her wise and inspiring reflections on the value of the arts in nurturing young minds, emphasising how artistic engagement enriches academic and personal growth and prepares students for a world of opportunity.
As guests took in the creativity and innovation on display, they enjoyed delicious hors d’oeuvres crafted by our senior food studies students, adding to the festive and celebratory atmosphere. Positive comments and conversations filled the evening as visitors moved through the exhibition precinct, appreciating the hard work and imagination our students poured into their creations.
The Hill Arts and Technology Exhibition 2024 was a true testament to the talent and dedication of our school community, and we look forward to building on this success in the years to come. Thank you to everyone who joined us to make this evening so special!
