Curriculum & Data

"Curriculum should help children make deeper and fuller understanding of their own experience."

Congratulations Year 12

Congratulations to our Year 12 students who have just completed their trial exams! This is a significant milestone on their journey, and we commend each of them for their hard work and dedication. As they begin to receive their results, we know that some of them will be celebrating their achievements, while others may feel a bit disappointed. What they need to remember is that this is just one step in their overall journey. Now is the time for them to carefully review their results, act on the feedback, and continue to refine their approach. Every piece of feedback is an opportunity for growth, so they need to stay focused, and keep pushing towards their goals.

On Friday, August 23rd, our dedicated teachers participated in a staff development day focused on enhancing their ability to analyse and utilise various types of student data. The day included in-depth sessions on examining NAPLAN results, as well as formative and summative assessments, and teacher observations. By exploring these data sources, our teachers were able to identify key trends and areas for improvement. The day concluded with collaborative discussions on practical strategies that can be implemented in the classroom to foster student growth and improvement, ensuring that every student reaches their full potential.

Year 10 are currently working through the Canvas All My Own Work (AMOW) course. AMOW is a program that helps students learn how to use information responsibly and honestly during their studies. It highlights the importance of respecting the work of others, avoiding cheating, and making sure that all the work they submit is genuinely their own.

When students use information, whether it's from books, the internet, or any other source, they need to credit the original authors to avoid plagiarism. AMOW guides students on how to do this correctly and helps them understand why honesty in their work matters.

The AMOW program must be completed before entering Year 11.

Completing AMOW ensures that students are ready to use information ethically and responsibly as you advance in your studies beyond Year 10. It's about doing the right thing and showing integrity their work, which will benefit them both now and in the future.
