From The Acting Principal

Stephen Arthurson

Dear Families,

This morning we celebrated our much loved annual Fathers’ Morning. During my time at St Anne’s it has been great to see this event grow from “have a kick of the footy on the oval before school” to a fully fledged “Circle the Date on Your Calendar” event. The photos below capture the spirit of the morning. Thanks to our amazing Community Team of Erica, Nikki and Bianca for their work organising behind the scenes, and to all our other staff who came along early to help out.

MACSIS Family Surveys

  • If you are interested in completing the annual MACSIS Family Opinion survey, please email Leona Dean ldean@sasunbury.catholic.edu.au to get your details
  • All families who complete the survey will go in the draw to win one of five $20 canteen vouchers

Staff Professional Learning - Last Friday

  • Staff worked with Yvonne from The Mackillop Institute on Day 4 of our ReLATE PL journey. We focused primarily on the following
    • Recognising Stress types - positive, tolerable, toxic - and triggers
    • The role that Self-regulation and co-regulation play in alleviating stress
    • The importance of deliberate and strategic self-care strategies
  • The last point is particularly relevant to the teaching profession. National surveys about workload and burnout typically indicate that around 40% of teachers are considering leaving the profession within the next 3-5 years.
  • It is vital that we as a school have measures in place to attract and retain high quality teachers, for it is the teachers working directly with students who have the greatest impact on their learning outcomes. Staff self-care and wellbeing are central to this.

Other News and Notes

  • Next week is Learning Support Officer Appreciation Week. We have an amazing team of LSOs here at St Anne’s, whose work is vital to everything we do. Next week, you might encourage your child to say a big “Thanks” to the LSO staff member working in their class.
  • In line with Child Safety Expectations, from next year our Year 6 jackets will no longer have student names printed on the back. We are using this as an opportunity to introduce a Year 6 Rugby Top with a “Class of 2025” design on the back, and are currently exploring possible options. This change will mean that the tops are ready for Day 1 of the school year, rather than closer to the end of Term 1 as has been the case more recently.
  • Uniform reminder - all black shoes are to be worn on non-Sports days

Warm regards,

Stephen
