Year Seven

Dear Year Seven Families,

Year 7 Delve Into Ancient Greece in Humanities

Over the past two weeks, Year 7 students have been immersed in the captivating world of Ancient Greece during their Humanities lessons. Through a comprehensive study of its physical features, lifestyles, economic systems, historical timeline, and conflicts, students gained a deeper understanding of one of the most influential civilisations in history.

The study began with an exploration of the physical features of Ancient Greece. Students examined the geography of the region, focusing on the scattered islands, and surrounding seas that shaped Greek society. This geographical analysis helped students understand how the Greeks developed their seafaring skills and how geography influenced city-state development, trade, and warfare.

In addition to geography, students explored the daily lives of Ancient Greeks. They learned about the contrasting lifestyles between the city-states of Athens and Sparta, examining everything from education and family life to civic duties and the role of women. This comparative study shed light on the diversity of Greek culture and the different values that guided each society.

As part of their timeline studies, students mapped out significant events in Greek history, including the rise and fall of major city-states, the Persian Wars, and the conquests of Alexander the Great. This chronological approach helped students contextualise key events and recognise the impact of Greek civilisation on the broader ancient world.

This detailed study of Ancient Greece in Humanities provided Year 7 with a holistic view of the civilisation's physical, social, and economic structures, as well as its lasting impact on modern society. Their enthusiasm and hard work have been truly impressive!

Exciting Developments in Our Instrumental Music Program!

Our instrumental music program is thriving like never before! We are delighted to share that student participation has reached near capacity, with only a few spots remaining. This overwhelming response reflects the enthusiasm and passion our students have for music.

One of the standout achievements this term is the formation of our very own Saltwater Band. This talented group of students has been working incredibly hard, and their dedication is paying off. We are excited to announce that the Saltwater Band will be giving their first performance in Week 8. This event promises to be a memorable showcase of their skills and creativity, and we thank everyone in the saltwater community for the ongoing support.
