Year 11 Camp

Mrs Erin East | Head of Year 11

From 21-23 August, our Year 11 students embarked on an unforgettable adventure at the Forest Edge Recreation Camp, embracing the theme of "Undefeated." This year's camp, despite the unrelenting rain, was a testament to resilience and camaraderie.

Our campers faced a range of activities designed to challenge and inspire. They took aim in the air rifle shooting range, scaled new heights on the rock-climbing wall, and soared through the trees on the flying fox. The thrill continued as they tackled abseiling, navigated a night bush walk, and got their hands dirty in the billy-cart making workshop. Each activity was a new opportunity to push their limits and support each other.

The weather, though less than ideal, only added to the camp's spirits. Rain poured throughout the second and third days, turning the campgrounds into a muddy, freezing challenge. Yet, our students faced the elements with an undefeated attitude, demonstrating continued perseverance and teamwork.

A highlight of the camp was the Group Mascot Challenge. Each group received a teddy mascot, equipped with its own set of boxing gloves to symbolize their unity and strength. The mascots included a mouse, gorilla, Tasmanian devil, and kangaroo, each representing a unique group identity. The mascots were not just adorable companions; they became symbols of the groups’ spirit and determination.

Despite the stormy weather, the Year 11 camp was a tremendous success. It showcased our students’ ability to adapt and thrive in any condition, reinforcing the theme of being truly undefeated. As we look back on this experience, it’s clear that our students emerged stronger, braver, and more connected than ever before. The scripture from Isaiah 40:31 captures what it means to be “undefeated”…

But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Work Experience Placements

During Week 10, our Year 10 students gained work experience in various businesses and trades. We deeply appreciate all the community and businesses that provided this valuable opportunity for our students.

EXO Day

EXO DAY is where we champion young people to be their best and live an exceptional life with God in the centre of all they do! Thank you to the incredible team from Nations Church for spending the day in ministry with our youth. Students enjoyed a lunchtime carnival with food trucks and an obstacle course.

I wanted to extend a heartfelt thank you for organizing such a fantastic EXO Day! The feedback from the students has been overwhelmingly positive, with many sharing that this year's event was their favorite by far.  The energy, activities, and overall experience clearly resonated with them, and it was clear they enjoyed every moment. Many even said it was the best EXO Day they’ve participated in over the years. Your effort and dedication really shone through, making it a truly memorable day for everyone. Thank you again for your hard work in making it such a success. We’re already looking forward to next year! | Romi A. Year 11 Student

Generosity Day

In Week 9 of this term, our Year 8 students spent their morning serving at the College and Sonflower Op Shop. These activities are part of their service-learning experience, during which students have the opportunity to give back and live out one of the College's values: Service. Some of the activities the students participated in were helping the grounds staff beautify the College, cooking food for the homeless, and running a program for our Pre-Primary students. Many students have commented that doing these activities gives them a different perspective and that they can make a difference by doing something seemingly small.
