Be Exceptional!

The King's Honours Awards Assembly

Mrs Kathryn Tupicoff | Assistant DP Learning and Teaching

The King's Honours Program, which launched at the beginning of this year, recognises students' efforts and achievements in four key areas: Academics, Arts, Sports, and Citizenship. In each of these four areas, students can achieve three levels of recognition: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Points are accumulated through various activities, with a Bronze badge awarded at 100 points, Silver at 200 points, and Gold at 300 points.

In Term 1, we launched our Honours Program by awarding badges to our Year 12 students badges based on their efforts and achievements across these four areas. This Term, we honour over 100 recipients from Years 7 through 12, recognising their accomplishments in Semester 1.

I believe that everyone has the necessary skills or special talents in one of these areas, and I firmly believe that as we continue to hold Honours assemblies twice a year, we will see every student up on this stage being recognised for their efforts and achievements.

All-Star Basketballer!

Congratulations to Emmanuel D. in Year 12, who has made the ACC All-Stars Basketball Team and will compete against the SSWA team on the 19 October. This is a massive achievement as only ten students were selected for this. Well done!

At ‘King’s Got Talent’ finals, I performed ‘Fly Me To The Moon’ by Frank Sinatra, on the piano. The reason I performed song, is because I wanted to follow in my brother’s footsteps - my brother, Josiah, is a great pianist! I also wanted to leave a mark before I leave Primary School. To prepare for the auditions and the finals, I practiced on the piano for around 15 to 30 minutes a few times a week. When it came to the finals, my family gave me my brother’s old brogues and suit, as well as my dad’s fedora to make me look like Frank Sinatra. Performing the song was very exhilarating, but not as enjoyable as when I am playing for fun, because I was feeling the pressure!   When I won, it meant a lot because it made me feel like I was successfully following in my brother’s footsteps.  My best piece of advice is a quote from Jackie Chan: ‘Keep your dreams alive.’

  • Creativity Award |  Isaac R. 6A & Scarlett R. 5A

We want to exhibit our God-given talents and share our passion in music with others. We practice regularly and self assessed to  see how we can do better.  The stage is my home, and  I can express my feelings. Every year is a new memory we create.  Remember to express yourself freely and step out of your comfort zone.  We encourage you to join KGT next year, as it will make you feel courageoous and learn to express yourself freely. You will feel amazing!

  •  Courage Award | Daisy B. 6B  & Gladys K. 6A

We are glad to win the creativity award for King’s Got Talent.  We made time to practice our dance routine at recess and lunch.  We enjoyed working together as a team. Just do it, even if you’re scared, put in all your energy and smile! Remember to give it your all when you’re doing something you enjoy!

MINI KGT

Our young students were inspired by the upper Primary students at the King’s Got Talent held earlier in the term. This time, it was their chance to shine!   They had a special and exciting music lesson with Mrs Katja Venter, where the Year 2 & 3s get to showcase their talents with their classes.  We’re thrilled to see the many talents of our students. We were blown away by their dances, singing, rapping, and playing on their instruments! Winners for the following awards:
