As you can see, some wonderful results across a variety of age groups and events. Well done athletes, you should be very proud of your achievements. Good luck to those who have qualified for the State Championships to be held later in the year.

Special mention to one of our athletes who broke a 20-year-old regional record in the 100m sprint.

Kaley C – 12 years – ran a PB and in doing so, took 0.46sec off the existing record. Well done, let's hope this one also stands for another 20 years!

Great results for The Gap High!

Year 9 District Sport GALA Day

Last fortnight, 110 of our Year 9 students enjoyed a day of social sport at South Pine Sports Complex. We are extremely fortunate to have these high-class facilities available for our use for these Gala Day events. The students were able to select from a variety of sports including Touch Rugby League, FUTSAL, Basketball, Beach Volleyball and Netball.

It was an overwhelming success, some of the comments made from our year 9 students on return included:

"We had so much fun, it was a great day out with our friends"

"I can’t wait for the term 4 gala day, I will be signing up for sure!"

"An awesome day at school"

We have our final district sport gala which will be open to our Year 7-9 students in Week 10 of Term 4. With this event being open to Year 7 and 8 as well as Year 9, spots will be limited so keep your eyes in the notices for further details in the middle of next term. Similar sports will be on offer, so you are welcome to start getting your teams together!

Mountain Biking – Castle Hill, Ipswich

This week we have our final mountain biking event for the year. We have 26 riders hitting the trials at Castle Hill with the aim to improve their skills, times, and places from previous rounds.  It has been a great season for us and well done to all the students for their efforts and how they have displayed our school values at these events. It has been a pleasure taking our students to these events due to the way they have cared for themselves, their team-mates and other riders participating. Well done to all students involved across the season. A special mention to Ms. McCall for her assistance in organising these events, they couldn’t happen without the dedication of staff members like Ms. McCall.

We are looking forward to offering these opportunities to the school community again in 2025. If you are interested in joining in, come and have a chat with Ms. McCall or the HPE staff.

School FUTSAL League

2 teams represented our school at the 2nd of 3 gala days for this Queensland wide competition. Our 15 and under teams were represented on this occasion – boys and girls.

Both teams played 3 games on the day with the girls teams winning all three!

The Gap defeated Chancellor Park State College; 3-1

The Gap defeated Islamic College of Brisbane; 4-1

The Gap defeated Albany Creek SHS; 3-1

They are in good shape for the final gala day in week 4, term 4.

Our boys team had a tough start to the day however ended strongly.

Chancellor Park State College defeated The Gap; 4-2

Redlands College defeated The Gap; 2-1

The Gap defeated Albany Creek SHS; 12-1

Good luck in the final round of competition next term.
