Faculty Report

We are blessed at Mazenod, to have a passionate and committed core of staff and students who are prepared to go above and beyond to present our musical productions.  Our amazing and talented cast and dedicated crew have worked tirelessly to create a “world of pure imagination”.  From the colourful costumes to the whimsical set and props, every detail was carefully crafted to capture the spirit of Roald Dahl’s iconic story.  We asked our Drama Captain, Henry McCracken-Matthews, to put together his thoughts on what was a fantastic event.

The musical every year is an integral part of the Mazenod Avila partnership.  Once a year, both schools join forces to put on a fantastic show full of entertainment, amazing voices and tons of talented individuals.  These performances are lifelong memories, ones we will cherish for the rest of our lives.  From the first rehearsal all the way to the last tear shed on closing night, the bond we develop with students from both schools forever lasts.  We as students are so lucky MATCO was created.  It has given many students an opportunity to do something they love, an opportunity many other schools do not give. As a cast, we would like to recognise the work of everyone behind the scenes to help put on this amazing show, including Ms Hindle, Mr Vernon, Mr J Lorback, and Ms Kamevaar for their amazing work backstage, including props and set creation.  Another special thanks to Ms Williamson and Ms Moroney for their amazing skills in developing our costumes.  Thanks to our choreographer, Ms Greenhill, for all of her videos of her dancing in her front yard, showing us how to do these complex and meaningful dances.  Finally, an extra special thank you to our two directors, Ms Sullivan and Mr Nguyen. Their hard work and dedication in putting this show on could not be replicated by anyone. We are so lucky to have had the creative team we got. We really do hope you had as much fun watching the show as we did making it.
