Bullying No Way
The National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence has a new name – Bullying No Way: National week of action. The theme for 2024 is ‘Everyone belongs’, which supports the MACS 2030 vision that ‘every student is inspired and enabled to flourish and enrich the world’. Our Catholic communities are enriched when we respect everyone’s differences and stand up to unkindness. Belonging means that we all have a role to play in preventing bullying. Mazenod College is a place where everyone is empowered to speak up and create a safe space, everyone feels supported and respected, and their voices are heard and valued.
Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, The Musical
Thank you to all involved in the annual College musical at The Alex Theatre, Monash University. The cast took us into a world of enchanting chaos and laughter as our talented young performers took to the stage. Months of hard work and dedication were poured into rehearsals by students from Avila and Mazenod, displaying their acting, singing, and dancing prowess. Supported by our talented crew and musicians, the stage was transformed into a world of music and magic. Congratulations to all involved.
Languages Week
This week we celebrated the rich tapestry of languages and cultures during our much-awaited Languages Week! The College came alive with vibrant activities and engaging events that highlighted the diversity of languages spoken by our students and their families. Thank you to the Languages Faculty and parents and families who participated in the festivities, sharing their native languages and cultural heritage with our students.
Daisho Staff and Student Exchange Program
On Monday 22nd July, we welcomed Daisho staff and students from Japan who were with us until Friday 2nd August. As part of the program our Japanese student visitors visited classes with their Year 9, 10, 11 and 12 hosts. Mazenod Japanese students chaperoned our visitors on excursions and exchange activities. A special thank you to all who offered to extend hospitality to Japanese teachers and students.
Science Week
At Mazenod College, Science Week is a vibrant celebration of discovery and innovation. Students immerse themselves in hands-on experiments, interactive workshops, showcasing their passion for science. The week features exciting competitions, science fairs, that inspire curiosity and critical thinking. This annual event takes place between the 12th-16th of August fostering a sense of community and enthusiasm for learning.
Victorian Volleyball State Schools Cup
The Victorian Volleyball State Schools Cup is a highlight of our school's sporting calendar, bringing together students from several year levels to display their skills on the court. With determination and dedication, our teams have been practicing rigorously, honing their techniques, and strategizing to be at their best during the tournament.
Beyond the competition, Volleyball provides an opportunity for our school community to come together, cheer on our teams, and celebrate the spirit of friendly rivalry. Students, teachers, and parents alike unite to support our players and share in the excitement of the matches. May this event inspire our students to embrace the values of teamwork, resilience, and fair play that extend far beyond the court and into all aspects of their lives. Congratulations to all coaches and players.
All the best,
Dr Paul Shannon
