From the Principal

Week 1 Term 4 2023

Dear Parents and Carers

Welcome to Term 4!  It's hard to believe it is already October! I trust everyone had an enjoyable and safe holiday. Thank you to all the parents and children who have welcomed me back over the past three days.

I would like to commence this newsletter by thanking Larissa Boyhan and Bernadette Reed for their leadership whilst I was away on Long Service leave. I also want to thank the staff parents and students for what I have heard was a magnificant Art Show. As you are aware events like this just don't happen without a lot of pre planning and preparation.

5/6 Health Evening

Last night  the Yr 5/6 students and parents were involved in a Health evening where the topic of puberty was dicussed and explored. Thank you to all the families who logged in for this very informative session.  Sue Pain the presenter engaged everyone and allowed for opportunbities for parents and children to have discussion in the comfort of their own home.

Sue will be working with the students over the coming weeks.

Maths Day

Next Friday St Bede's is holding a Maths Day where all parents are invited to attend.  For parents there will be an information session commencing at 9.00am which will approximately conclude around 9.45am. This session will be facilitated by Ross Kirwan from the MACs eastern office.

I know many parents are curious about the different ways mathematics is taught compared to their own schooling.

After the presentation, parents are invited to visit their child/ren's classroom and participate in some maths activities.

After recess the children will be involved in a maths incursion.

We look forward to a wonderful day and I thank Rosalie Silves our maths leader for organising the day.  Please see "St Bede's Maths Day" page for further information.

Confirmation

This evening many of our Yr 6 students will be celebrating the sacrament of Confirmation. This is an exciting time for both the candidate and and their family. I ask that you please keep them in your prayers and thoughts.

St Bede's  Behavioural Expectations.

As you are aware, as part of our Positive Behaviours program, St Bede's has very clear expectations of our students.   They are, Be Safe, Be Respectful and Be Resilient. Posters of these expected behaviours are all throughout the school as reminders. I ask that you also reinforce these expectations at home.

There are many extra curricular activites happening this term. Please keep a look out for further information.   Some of these activities include  Carols evening, Graduation, 1/2 excursion  and the Yr5/6 bike ride, to just name a few.

Educational Requests.

Planning for 2024 has commenced, so if you have any educational requests for next year please email myself  bgrace@sbedesbn.catholic.edu.au by Friday October 13th. I remind parents they are only requests and that many other considerations are taken into place. The teachers already know your child very well.  Educational requests should not include asking for your child to be with their friends.  The children fill in socialgrams containing this information in class.

Looking forward to a wonderful term.

Have a great week
