Week 3 Term 4
Over the next two weeks in Maths we will focus on chance and probability. We will make a connection between probability and fractions and play a variety of chance games. This week we played Greedy Pig, Heads and Tails and Lucky Ducks. We also looked at dependent probability and independent probability. This looks at how the result of one outcome, may or may not effect the outcome of the other. In the photos below each pair of students is playing Ed and Dale's Heads or Tails. This game involved flipping a coin and gaining from the result. We talked about 'even' chance and analysed the results of the different games being played. Heads and Tails should have been flipped evenly right!?
Last week it was great to welcome back the first year Monash University students to St Francis Xavier PS. It was the first time since 2019 that they have been able to hold their annual Sustainability Fair for our students. Both 3/4 classes and the P-2s were able to engage in a variety of great activities and learning opportunities. Students were divided into small groups and moved around to different stations. They learnt about the importance of sustainability practices at home, school and in our local community.
On Monday we had the opportunity to attend the Frankston Arts Centre to watch Moana Jnr, performed by St Brendan's PS, Somerville. We were invited to attend their matinee performance. It was a great opportunity for our students to watch students of similar ages performing onstage, signing, dancing and acting. We thoroughly enjoyed it! Their Principal even gave us a shout out at the end for attending.
Enjoy your week!
Regards, Mr Brendan.
