Term four is shaping up to be a busy term of musical performances and events. Please write these dates into your calendars.

Week 5

Training Band Performance (between the admin. building & gym)

Wednesday 1st November - 8.30 – 8.45am

 

Beginner Guitar Ensemble and Choir Performance at Assembly

Friday 3rd November - 2.50 – 3.20pm

Week 6

Concert Band Performance at Assembly

Friday 10th November - 2.50 – 3.20pm 

Week 7

2023 Evening of Music Rehearsal

Tuesday 14th November during school hours.

 

All Training Band, Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Beginner & Advanced Guitar Ensemble and Choir Members involved in the Evening of Music will need to attend a rehearsal/tech run/walk through on the morning of the Performance. Students will be escorted by staff on foot to One Church to conduct the rehearsal during school hours.

A showcase of Victoria’s best Primary School Band and Ensemble Program. Performances from the Training, Concert and Symphonic Bands, the Beginner and Advanced Guitar Ensembles and the BPS Choir.

Week 7

Concert Band performing at the 2023 Victorian Schools Music Festival

Thursday 16th November

Hawthorn Arts Centre, 360 Burwood Rd, Hawthorn

Entry is free and parents are welcome to attend. 

The band will be at the venue between 10:30 and 12:45.

 

The Victorian School Music Festival involves school bands, orchestras, jazz ensembles and choirs. Performing at VSMF is the full sensory experience with young musicians performing on stage in their ensemble, receiving given immediate feedback on stage from a highly skilled adjudicator. Participants are involved in listening to others in performance, watching how it can be done differently with opportunities to analyse their own performance back at school by listening to the recording and watching the video provided. After their performance, conductors are given the opportunity to work backstage with a skilled conducting clinician, reviewing video footage and engaging in conversation.

Week 8

Band Recruitment Night

Wednesday 22 November at 5:30pm

BPS Multi-Purpose Room

 

This is an informative evening for prospective new Grades 2 to 5 students wanting to join the band/ensemble program. Instruments offered include Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Bass Guitar, Percussion and Acoustic Guitar. 

 

The Advanced Guitar Ensemble and Symphonic Band will perform at this evening, to showcase the amazing impact that learning an instrument, and participating in our program can have on our students as individuals and as part of a team.
