Principal's Report
Dear School Community,
Welcome to our latest newsletter! This month has been bursting with colour, wellness, and heartfelt connections. From our Spring Day extravaganza and STEPtember's healthy strides to R U OK? Day's emotional support and Prep Orientation's warm welcome-there's so much that makes our school a special place for all. Enjoy the read!
Spring Day Celebrations:
Wow, what a kaleidoscope of colours we had going on yesterday for our Spring celebration! Each PLT really outdid themselves, filling our classrooms and outdoor spaces with vibrant hues. A big shoutout to the Middle Secondary Cohort for nabbing the top spot-your decorations were truly a sight to behold. Lower Primary, you were right on their heels and also did an amazing job!
And let's not forget our fantastic staff. Seeing you all arrive bright and early to kickstart the team-building was heart-warming. The energy you brought set the tone for the whole day and reminded us why Rockhampton North Special School is such a special place to be. Thanks for making the day memorable, and for giving our students an uplifting environment where they feel they belong.
STEPtember
STEPtember is upon us. We're not just stepping into a new month, we're stepping into a healthier us. Every step we take is a move towards raising awareness for cerebral palsy and supporting a community that could really use our backing. Exercise isn't just good for the body, it's a mood-lifter, a stress-buster, and a great way to connect with others. So let's all put our best foot forward this month-literally! And to make things even more exciting, we've got a little friendly competition among our staff. Which team can log the most steps in STEPtember? Don your pedometers, sync up those fitness trackers, and let's see which crew can really go the distance. Not only is this a fun way to bond, but it also sends a great message to our students about the importance of staying active. Let's make this STEPtember one for the books! Ready, set, step!
R U OK? Day
Tomorrow marks an important event-R U OK? Day 2023. This is a National Day of Action dedicated to promoting mental well-being and encouraging Australians to engage in open and meaningful conversations. It serves as a timely reminder that simple, yet heartfelt inquiries into one another's welfare can make a significant difference. Please join us in wearing yellow to symbolize unity and support for this vital cause. You do not need to be a mental health expert to ask someone if they are okay; often, what is required is simply being a good friend and an attentive listener. A willingness to engage in meaningful dialogue can go a long way in offering emotional support to someone who may be struggling. We urge everyone to participate and to remember that each day provides an opportunity to ask, "Are you OK?" and thereby contribute to a more empathetic and supportive community.
Prep Orientation Day
Last Friday marked an important occasion with our Prep Orientation Day. It was an absolute pleasure to meet our new preppies and their families. A heartfelt thanks goes out to our dedicated teachers, Nicole and Bel, who truly went above and beyond to offer a warm welcome to our incoming families. Transitioning into school is a critical juncture in a child's educational journey, setting the tone for their future academic experiences. A smooth transition can make all the difference, which is why our staff is committed to making this process as comfortable as possible for both students and parents. The role of the family is integral in this transition. Strong family connections serve as a cornerstone for academic and emotional success, something we deeply value. The collective efforts of our staff and families not only enrich our community but also ensure that each student has a positive and fulfilling start to their schooling.
Thank you
Just wanted to take a moment to express a massive thank you to our incredible Rockhampton North Special School community. Your support, involvement, and enthusiasm are nothing short of amazing. Whether it's volunteering, attending meetings, or simply cheering on our students at school events, your presence makes all the difference. We feel the sense of belonging grow stronger each day, and that's all thanks to you. It's easy to say "it takes a village," but it really does-and we have an exceptional village here. Your contributions not only enrich our school but also set a wonderful example for our students about the power of community. Thank you for helping to build a future where everyone speaks highly of, and feels connected to, our school.
A heartfelt thank you to all for making our school an exceptional place of learning and belonging.
Warm regards,
Dehlia
