Year 6 Exhibition

Tuesday 26 to Thursday 28 September

Opening Tuesday 26 September, 5.30 - 7.00pm in The Farrall Centre.

The PYP Exhibition is a significant event in an IB school. As a culminating experience for Year 6 students, it is an opportunity for students to independently exhibit the attributes of the learner profile and identify, investigate and offer solutions to real-life issues and opportunities. It is also an opportunity to demonstrate the essential elements of the Primary Years Program: knowledge, concepts, skills, action and agency.

The big idea for 2023 is “Our Voices: Our Future.” The Exhibition is an opportunity for students to share their new knowledge, express their understanding and continue their inquiry by discussing concepts and ideas with members of our community. Each student has contributed to the curation of an area dedicated to one of the IB Primary Year Program's Transdisciplinary Themes. They have each created a work of art that is designed to provoke conversation. Visitors are invited to view the work and use it as a stimulus for deep and rich conversations with the students. Families and other community members are invited to attend Exhibition 2023 on Tuesday, 26 September from 5.30-7.00pm in The Farrall Centre.

Year 6 Exhibition Celebration - Legacy Park

Thursday 28 September

Year 6 students have shown such impressive commitment to their learning and passion for knowledge and ideas that we want to celebrate the completion of their Exhibition Inquiries with a walk to Legacy Park. After finalising the Exhibition on Thursday 28 September, we will walk to Legacy Park on Queens Domain. We will enjoy the play ground and ovals and participate in a range of activities and games. Students will eat lunch at school before we go. Please pack a snack for afternoon tea

We will leave school at 11.40am and return by 2.45pm. Students are welcome to wear their Sports Uniform. Please pack a water bottle, hat and raincoat, as well as their afternoon snack.  It would be helpful to have a couple of parents join us. If you are free and keen, please let Nic, Andy or Fiona know. Note that for all Friends’ School volunteer activities you will also need to complete a Volunteer Registration Form

Guide Dogs Tasmania - Free Dress Day

Friday 29 September

The Morris Council have organised a free dress day on Friday 29 September (last day of term) to support Guide Dogs Tasmania. Students are invited to donate a gold coin. This money will go to raising and training Guide and Autism Assistance Dogs in Tasmania, working to bring independence, safety, and inclusion to people in our own community.
