Grade Prep - 2

This term, students have been mastering the skills of throwing and catching using different sport equipment such as nets, bean bags, GAGA balls, tennis balls and down balls. Students have also started the soccer unit focusing on dribbling, passing and defending. It has been great watching students confidence grow as they challenge themselves to make the skills more difficult and choosing different partners to work with.

Grade 3 - 6

This term, students have been focusing on learning how to play European Handball, Lawn Bowls and Netball. Students have been working on throwing and catching, shooting goals and defending. It was awesome watching students smile as they learnt how to play Lawn Bowls and become pros and measure to check what ball was closest to the white Jack. The next unit of work that students will be working on is Athletics events.

We have had an AWESOME two weeks of Science learning in STEM!

Here is what we did:

Foundation and Grade 1/2 Flower Dissection Experiment

Our students in the F-2 area dissected some flowers to try and identify the different parts. They were able to identify the petals, pistils and stamens within the flowers.

Students were excited to use some new and exciting scientific tools such as tweezers, magnifying glasses, blades and safety glasses.

Grade 5/6 Penguin Adaptation Mini Experiments

Our students in Grade 5/6 are learning about different animal adaptations. The best way to learn about a particular adaptation is to experience it for yourself! This week, the 5/6s became penguins and performed three mini-experiments.

Experiment 1: Testing to see how wax reacts to water (penguin's feathers)

Experiment 2: Testing different surfaces to see which surface generates less friction (penguin's body)

Experiment 3: Testing egg transfers (penguin's feet)
