Dear Parents and Carers
Welcome back to Term Two. I hope you have all had a restful holiday with your families.
The students have all come back happy, settled and ready to learn from the many activities that they will encounter this Term.
We have had a busy start to the Term. Last week, it was great to see so many families and members of the community attend the Easter Mass on Thursday. I’m sure you would have been very proud of your child/children and their beautiful singing at Mass.
This week we started swimming. It has all gone very smoothly so far and the students seem to be enjoying their lessons at Aquastar, Haileybury. It is good to see how much the students grow in independence at this time as they take charge of their belongings and organise themselves for the swimming excursion each day.
In Mathematics, we will continue to work on the Mental Strategies from Prep to Year 6 on Number Word Sequence. Mental Strategies is about building fluency and automatic recall of number facts. Please find below the list of skills that students will master from Prep to Year 6. All students are at different levels and it is important to know where they are and encourage them to move through the skills by practising them regularly. If you have any questions or would like to know more about supporting your child with their mental math skills, please see myself or your child’s teacher.
