Principal's Message

Sarah Travis

Dear parents, carers and guardians,

As we step into Term 2, I am filled with pride and excitement about the journey we are undertaking together at Armidale Secondary College. Our students, staff, and families have shown remarkable resilience and adaptability, and it’s heartening to witness our community thriving despite the challenges we face.

Firstly, I would like to extend a warm welcome to all new students and families joining us this term. We are delighted to have you as part of our school community and look forward to supporting you in every possible way. Our commitment remains to provide a nurturing and stimulating environment where every student can achieve their full potential.

We are very excited to announce that ASC will be performing High School Musical at the end of June. This production is a wonderful showcase of talent from our students, many of whom have transitioned from public schools in Armidale.

We are incredibly proud to witness their growth and dedication as they bring this beloved musical to life. From singing and dancing to acting and production, our students have poured their hearts into every aspect of the performance. Join us in celebrating their hard work and enjoy an unforgettable show.

Your involvement is crucial to the success of our students. Attending the musical, and our events, participating in the P&C meetings, and staying connected through our school app and social media channels allow us to strengthen our ties to the community and showcase the school. Join us for our High School Music fundraiser event at Belgrave Cinema on Wednesday 19 June!

I am delighted to share some heartwarming news from our school community. This year, our dedicated school captains chose Dolly's Dream as the charity to support. On the 17th of May, we came together for a fundraising event to raise funds for this worthy cause. Dolly's Dream is an organisation that focuses on supporting youth mental health in regional areas, with a particular emphasis on combating bullying and cyberbullying.

Our Year 12 students took the lead in organising various fundraising activities, including a bake sale, a BBQ, and selling cans. I am incredibly proud of our students' initiative and commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of others. By supporting Dolly's Dream, we are not only raising funds but also spreading awareness and fostering a culture of kindness and empathy within our school community.

This term has been marked by a plethora of achievements among our students, showcasing their dedication, talent, and resilience. From academic excellence to outstanding performances in extracurricular activities, our students have shone brightly in various fields. As we reflect on the accomplishments of this term, we celebrate the diverse talents and remarkable achievements of our students, inspiring us all to reach greater heights in the pursuit of excellence.

In closing, I want to thank our dedicated teachers and staff for their unwavering commitment to our students’ education and well-being. Your hard work and passion are the foundation of our school’s success.

Together, let’s make this term a remarkable one filled with learning, growth, and positive experiences.

Warm regards,

Sarah Travis
