Sport & PE

Soccer

Soccer is a great game that covers all manner of motor, social and emotional skills.

Emotional - The emphasis is placed on creating a positive and enjoyable environment where children develop a love for the sport.

Social –  Encourages to interact with others and develop social skills. They learn the importance of teamwork, cooperation, and sportsmanship, cultivating positive relationships with their peers and coaches.

Technical – Students are introduced to basic dribbling, passing, and shooting, laying the foundation for their technical development in the sport.

Physical – Students engage in activities and exercises that promote agility, coordination, balance, and overall physical development. These skills form the building blocks for more advanced physical abilities later on.

Mental – Children begin to understand and learn the rules and basics of the game. They develop a basic understanding of concepts such as not using their hands, the idea of shooting to score, and stopping the ball as a defender, which contributes to their mental growth as soccer players.

Throughout these session we will continue to learn and advance in

  • Ball control and first touch
  • Passing, both long and short
  • Positioning and spatial awareness
  • Stamina and fitness
  • Dribbling the ball while running
  • Shooting

Tennis Lessons

Andy and Alison have started the tennis program with our students. Our year 4/5 and 5/6 classes have had 2 lessons so far.

All classes will enjoy a 4 week program with them.

Laps Around The Oval

It's that time again when our students head out before lunch break to run the cricket oval and try to do as many laps as they can, now that the smoke haze has lifted.  Introducing this in Term 2 enables all our students to get ready for the Cross Country Event hosted by Tawonga Primary School on May 17th.  Consent forms have been published on Compass and the meal deal order form was sent home last week.  Orders and correct money can be haned in to the Office or your childs teacher at roll call. We have spare forms in the Office if yours has been missplaced.
