10A WORK EXPERIENCE REFLECTIONS

MRS SALLY LOONEY & MRS ANNA STEICKE - PATHWAYS TEAM

Overall, my work experience at Swan Hill Chemicals has been a valuable ag experience that has deepened my passion for agriculture. This has inspired me to pursue further education and training in agronomy, with the goal of becoming a knowledgeable and skilled agronomist in the future. I am grateful for the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals in the field of agronomy.

I have recently completed my work experience at St Joseph's Primary School K-6 in Balranald. This experience was highly enjoyable and I had lots of fun the whole time I was there, while also learning a large variety of skills. One thing I have learned from my time on work experience is that teachers have a lot of skills.

I went to the hospital for my work experience, and I thoroughly enjoyed my experience, mainly because of the nurses I was with. They gave me hands-on things so I could get maximal experience whilst in a safe way. I was in the midwifery ward for most of my time there, the experience was amazing, and the midwives were amazing. I loved seeing what they got to do on a daily basis. Because of all my experience, I now want to become a midwife.

My time at Ace Radio was truly eye-opening, broadening my skill set significantly. I would recommend radio as a career to anyone interested in writing, creative media, or technology without any hesitation. This experience was incredibly enjoyable and I had fun every second that I was there, while also learning a large variety of skills. One thing I have learnt from my time on work experience is that radio is an incredibly diverse occupation. The career takes in people with many skills including journalism, accounting, technological prowess and even artistic media, making radio a profession that benefits many.

I enjoyed being in such a positive environment at Little Swans, surrounded by very empathetic and fun people. The kids were very funny and loved following me around and asking me what I was doing, and the staff were all very understanding and helped show me around. I seriously appreciated everyone there, it was such an amazing experience.

I did work experience at Avenue Health in Kerang. I enjoyed it and I learnt many new skills such as respect, initiative, conversation, independence, insight into others and active listening. I got to watch clients come in for their physio, beauty, osteo and massage appointments. It was very interesting watching how they treat different patients. It was interesting seeing osteopathy as I do not know much about it. I enjoyed physio and beauty. I had a really good time at Avenue Health.

I will be considering teaching as a possible path in my future career and would like to thank Principal, Kate Quinn and their school St Mary's Primary School for providing me with the opportunity to participate in work experience within their school. It helped strengthen my social skills and interaction with adults in the working environment, helped push me out of my comfort zone and better use my initiative in situations that arose, and also gave me a very clear understanding of the skills and requirements needed to be a teacher.

I would like to thank Swan Hill Primary so much for this incredible experience, and Katie for welcoming me into her class. I learnt many things about the way primary school teaching works, and how Swan Hill Primary operates. I interacted with the kids and enjoyed helping them learn. It was truly rewarding when I successfully taught students to do simple things.
