Athletics Carnival

Due to the extended periods of wet weather, our oval has not had sufficient time to dry. In preparation for our athletics carnival, we have been unable to mow, line mark and have sand delivered for our long jump pits. We have therefore postponed our athletics carnivals to the following dates -

Junior (Prep – Yr2) – Wednesday 10/7/2024

Senior (Yr 3 – Yr 6) – Thursday 11/7/2024

Sporting Achievements

Congratulations to Winnie and Milla who competed at the QLD schools AFL carnival on the Sunshine Coast last week and over the weekend. The girls played really well and ended up taking out the QLD title. Well done girls that is a massive achievement.

Healthy Kids Project

We are very excited to be a part of the Healthy Kids project. This program is designed to continue to grow and develop our students in all areas of health and wellbeing. As a part of this program, we have partnered with Woolworths at 19th Ave shopping centre. Anthony and his team will be providing a box of fresh fruit for our running club and active school travellers every Friday as part of the Fresh Fruit Friday initiative. Students can collect some fresh fruit from the table where they get their active travel stamps or from the running club.

Running Club

Running Club is on every week. We meet in the hall at 8:00am and run until 8:30am. The students this term have been working on their sprinting skills. After a couple weeks of fast feet circuits and drills in the hall, we are hoping to get down on the oval and put our sprint training to the test with some longer sprints. If your child is in year 1-6 and would like to join our Running Club, please get in contact so we can get them signed up.

Free Tuesday and Thursday Afternoon Sport

Our free afternoon sport has kicked off this week with the weather finally being kind to us. We had a great turn out for athletics. This program will now run until week 9 due to the weather delay the first two weeks. These sessions are held on the school oval and provide an opportunity for students to trial a new sport before signing up to club sport.

These sessions are completely free and are funded by the Australian Sporting Commission Sporting Schools program. A qualified coach will run each of these sessions and a Tallebudgera State School staff member will be there to assist with supervision. Parents are invited to come and watch the afternoon sessionsParents must collect their child from the school oval.

Have a great week.
