Another great weekend in the Residence last week.

Weekend

Friday was steak, salad and chips night, then off to Eaton Fair for some shopping.

Saturday was an early start for some students who were involved in the Brunswick Autumn Dairy Fair, while several students spent the morning riding their horses.  Another group of students went into town to watch some of our students play football and netball for the Harvey Bulls.

Saturday evening was a BBQ tea, followed by watching footy with lots of barracking for both sides.  For the students not interested in footy they chose to sit around chatting, before a quick game of spotlight.

On Sunday many of the students travelled to Bunbury to watch “The Fall Guy” at the cinemas.

Week Activities

Country Week training is in full swing with students involved in numerous sports around the College, as well as town netball.  Netball continued on Tuesday night for the girls involved the local competition.

Laundry

Tuesday is sheet changing day.  This week it was the girls turn to wash sheets and it became apparent that several students appear to only have one set of sheets. It is a requirement of all students to have two sets of sheets as it is unreasonable to expect our amazing laundry ladies to wash and dry 64 sets of sheets over and above all the other daily laundry requirements. The amount of laundry has already been boosted with all the extra sporting clothing from Country Week training.

Once we have a verified a list of those students with only a single set of sheets, we will email those families requesting that this is rectified.

Leave for Appointments

This week I have emailed the parents of students requesting leave to provide a proof of said appointment. I wish to thank all those I have contacted for their understanding and prompt responses, I am aware that this is an extra requirement that you could do without.

Town Trips

A further reminder of how the Residence needs to operate on trust for many of our operations. Town trips are a privilege that all students can participate in if on 'good standing'. There are a couple of stipulations that all students must always wear the class uniform correctly and they are only allowed to be in the immediate town area, not crossing the railway line to the east and not passed the fish and chip shop to the west. Under no circumstances are students to get into vehicles of any description and to always be on time.

I unfortunately needed to speak with a couple of students about being outside our guidelines this week which has resulted in those students now not being able to attend town trips until further notice. Unfortunately, when this happens it is really disappointing and undermines the  trust we have in our students.

National Boarding Week

Next week is National Boarding week and Brenton has some activities planned to involve the students over a couple of evenings.
