Hello – Kaya,
As we fast approach the mid point of the term it will also mark the mid point of the school year and serves as a timely reminder for everyone that the clock never stops and to make the most of our time.
WACE
I will be talking to some Year 12 students about their progress towards achieving their WACE and what areas are of concern and where best to focus their efforts.
The Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) is awarded to senior secondary school students who satisfy its requirements. It is a senior secondary certificate recognised nationally in the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF). Generally, students will complete two years of senior secondary study to achieve the WACE, although the School Curriculum and Standards Authority allows students to meet the WACE requirements over a lifetime. The WACE is recognised by universities, industry and other training providers. Achievement of a WACE signifies that a student has successfully met the breadth and depth standard, the achievement standard and the literacy and numeracy standard in their senior secondary schooling.
Attendance
As we enter the winter months and absences start to creep in, please be mindful that 'good standing' is linked to these. Any unauthorised absences will affect 'good standing' and students need to be aware of this. Families can email the school on Harvey.AC@education.wa.edu.au with proof of appointment or medical certificate prior to known absences, such as specialist appointments so we are fully informed and can mark these as authorised.
