Principal's Views

Dear Parents, Carers and Students,

We have had an eventful couple of weeks at Epping Views. Last week was staff wellbeing week … you may have noticed our colourful dress codes throughout the week and it was very exciting to have our whole school PJ day on Thursday. This was arranged by our student leaders and a big thank you to those families who chose to contribute to the Grade 6 Graduation fund. We had a lot of fun and it was a bright, colourful, comfortable and very cosy day.

Reconciliation Week

This past weekend, on Sunday 26 May 2024, we marked National Sorry Day. On this day each year we as a nation remember the grief, suffering and injustice experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who were forcibly removed from their families and communities, whom we now know as the Stolen Generations. This year’s theme, ‘Now more than ever’, reminds us that the shared fight for justice and the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people will – and must – continue.

This week our student leaders have recognised National Reconciliation Week with colouring and poster competitions and Wear It Yellow Day. Learning activities have taken place in classrooms around the school.

Attitudes to School Survey (AtoSS)

Over the last few weeks, our students in Years 4-6 have been participating in the annual Attitudes to School Survey.  The survey promotes student voice as a means to improving student engagement, wellbeing and quality instruction to find out how our students feel about the school.

Students were asked about their thoughts and feelings in relation to their school, their learning, peer relationships, resilience, bullying, health and wellbeing, physical activity and life in general.

The information collected from the survey is used to understand student views to plan programs and activities to improve your child’s schooling experience.

I look forward to sharing the results with you later in the year.
