STEM Report

We have made it to the final chapter in our 2025 STEM journey. Term 4 is upon us and we have a lot to look forward to. Before we get started, I'd like to thank all the students and teachers for warmly welcoming me back into the classroom after a term of absence. It has been fun catching up with peers and listening to all the children's stories of success and challenge while I was away.
This term will see the final round of new topics for our 2025 STEM program. Have a look below to see what each year level will be up to this term.
Prep: Prep students will explore the Earth Science unit titled "Moments in the day". Students will connect how moments in the day affect their own lives and influence their own actions. They will identify routines at particular times of the day and investigate how the weather might influence their choice of clothing or activity.
Grade 1/2: Students will explore the world of light and sound in this term's Physical Science unit. Students will learn how sound is made and create their own musical instruments. They will also discover the magic of light by identify light sources and how objects become illuminated.
Grade 3/4: This term, students will focus their attention on the Physical Science topic, 'Heat'. They will identify different heat sources and learn how heat may transfer from one object to another. Students will work on creating their own inquiry questions to drive their personal interest in the topic.
Grade 5/6: This term, students will be exploring the concepts of chemical and physical changes. They will identify common physical changes between states of matter and investigate the irreversible changes that are caused by combustion.
I look forward to finishing off a great year with a term full of fun and discovery. Come along for the journey and don't forget to bring your curiosity!
