The Art Room
Term 4
Who knew tape, paper bags, and newspaper could be so magical? Our Foundation artists have been turning these simple materials into the most imaginative creations. We’re having so much fun exploring, inventing, and creating together this term.

Grade 1 and 2 students had fun making new colours and experimenting with tools to create texture and pattern. We have taken inspiration from the picture story book When You Find the Right Rock, a story about finding something precious - in the natural world, or within ourselves - that may have gone otherwise unnoticed. Next week, we will put our cutting skills to the test to cut some rock shapes and build our own collection.

Many artists use collage as a way to express their ideas and creativity. In the Art Room, our students have been exploring this exciting technique. Students have been busy selecting images and textures from magazines and books, carefully curating their choices, and skillfully cutting and arranging pieces to tell a story or create a unique visual narrative. Collage encourages a wonderful blend of artistic and practical skills. Students draw on their mathematical understanding to estimate space and consider scale, while exploring how colour, contrast, and texture work together to bring depth and energy to their creations. Take a look at what our young artists have been creating.
