Acting Principal's Message

Year of Jubilee

Bonjour à tous.

SCHOOL CLOSURE MONDAY 13th OCTOBER.

Welcome to Term 4!

We hope all of our families have had a well rested break.

It has been wonderful to see all of the students back ready for their final term of the year.

I thought I would take this opportunity to make our families aware that some of our students have been watching violent YouTube shows such as Siren Heads which is rated 18+ Horror.   While these shows may look animated, they often contain frightening imagery, violence, and themes that are just not suitable for children.

We are beginning to see the influence of these shows in some students’ drawings, conversations, and role-playing at school. This type of play can sometimes be unsettling for their peers and reflects how easily children take in what they watch.

Research shows that exposure to violent media can:

  • Increase fear and anxiety in children
  • Normalise aggressive behaviour
  • Affect sleep, concentration, and wellbeing
  • Shape the way children express themselves through play and creativity

How Parents Can Help

  • Talk to your child about what they are watching online
  • Notice their drawings, games, and role-play as clues to their viewing habits
  • Set clear boundaries around age-appropriate content
  • Use parental controls (such as YouTube Kids)
  • Encourage safe, creative, and positive alternatives
  • Be aware of the games your child is playing online and their interactions with others online.
  • It is recommended that all technology, especially online games with chat features, are closely monitored by parents and restrictions are in place to ensure they are age appropriate. Children should not be accessing these games in bedrooms and out of sight from parents to ensure all communication is supervised.

For more information please use the YOUTUBE Information Guide below.

By working together, we can support our children in making healthy online choices and ensure that their play and learning remain positive and safe.

We look forward to Liz's return next week after a 6 week break.  Don't forget that there is a school closure on Monday, 13th Oct.

Merci,

Christy Roberts

Lord,

In times of loneliness may we be comforted by your presence.

In days of affliction may we be fortified with your strength.

In hours of despair may we be raised up through your love.

Amen.
