Students Attend the 2025 Multicultural Youth Leadership Conference

On Wednesday, 29 November, a group of University High School students attended the 2025 Multicultural Youth Leadership Conference (MYLC), held at Melbourne Town Hall.

The MYLC brought together young people from schools across Victoria to celebrate diversity, share experiences, and build leadership capacity among students from multicultural backgrounds. Throughout the day, students participated in interactive workshops, inspiring keynote sessions, and youth-led discussions focused on topics such as identity, inclusion, and creating positive change within their communities.

The conference encouraged students to reflect on their own leadership potential and the importance of representation and collaboration in shaping an inclusive future. Our students engaged enthusiastically, connecting with peers, community leaders, and mentors who share a passion for social impact and cultural pride.

University High School is proud to support opportunities like the MYLC that empower our young people to become confident, community-minded leaders who value and celebrate the richness of diversity.

"Going to the MYLC was both a valuable and entertaining experience.

I didn’t expect this conference to be fun at all, but it 100% blew my expectations away.

I really enjoyed listening to the speakers on stage tell their own stories and struggles, including what lessons we should take with us and learn from them. I also found joy in making new connections and meeting other students from other schools in Victoria. I’m very grateful I was able to attend and learn something new.

As a dancer, I was surprised when there were suddenly dancers who had performed on stage. The MCs invited a mass of other students to dance on stage as well, to the point that a dance circle formed on stage!

All in all, I had a blast. It was the BEST experience ever, and I would recommend this yearly conference to anyone interested in leadership roles to experience this at least once in their lives."
