Principal's Message

Dear Families, Students and Community Members,
And just like that, we’re halfway through Term 4! This term is always an important and action-packed time in the school year, filled with learning and assessment, celebration days, excursions/sport, and plenty of sunshine and positive energy around the College.
Enrolment Growth
As a new college that just opened last year, we will see significant increases in our enrolments from year to year. As I write this newsletter, we currently have 464 students enrolled across Years 7 & 8.
As we see out 2025 and complete our final planning for 2026, we are expecting that when we begin the 2026 school year, our enrolments will exceed 765 students across Years 7 to 9. This is a significant increase and with it will see a significant increase in staff.
To date we have already appointed an additional 17 new teachers and are actively recruiting approximately 10 more. We are also in the process of appointing additional new education support staff in a wide variety of roles across the college. You can begin to meet some our new staff throughout our newsletters.
In Week 2, we hosted a very successful information evening for our future Year 7 families. The sessions gave parents and students the chance to learn more about starting secondary school, learn more about our programs and supports, and hear directly from staff about what makes our school community unique. We thank all families who joined us and look forward to meeting our new students in person at the upcoming Year 7 Orientation Day. Some students will also participate in extra transition sessions to ensure they feel confident and comfortable as they begin this exciting next chapter.
Stage 2 Construction:
The College Principal Team continues to meet with the VSBA, project managers, architects and builders to finalise plans for stage 2 development and construction.
Stage 2 funding is based on providing the additional buildings, infrastructure, gardens and outdoor sport as per our original master plan. This includes:
- 2 more Learning Neighbourhoods
- A double storey Visual Arts building
- Landscaping
- Outdoor sports fields
Construction is due to be completed throughout 2026, with the intention that it is complete and ready for when we introduce Year 10 in 2027. Throughout 2026 there will be impacts on current grounds and play space and we will provide full details of this once everything is confirmed.
Parking and Driving Around Brinbeal Secondary College
Despite continuous reminders, we continue to see concerning driving behaviour of parents/carers when dropping off and picking up students.
- We continue to see parents driving at speed; a reminder all streets that border our school are a 40Km/h zone at all times.
- Parents are continuing to try to complete a 3-point turn directly in front of the school, holding up traffic.
- A large number of parents parents/carers are still stopping in the middle of the road and not parking in the parking bays to let their child out or pick up.
Here at Brinbeal Secondary College, we are very fortunate to have a large amount of parking spaces surrounding the entire school. We ask that parents ensure they are using the designated car parking; your child can walk to your car, rather than having to always be picked up directly out the front of the school.
Thank you to all our staff, students, and families for your ongoing support and commitment as we head into the final weeks of the school year. There is much to look forward to as we celebrate the achievements, growth, and efforts of our students across both year levels and our students prepare themselves to advance to the Year 8 & 9 in 2026.
Kind Regards,
Mr. Simon Haber
