Wishing you all a big and warm (the sun is shining!) welcome back to Term 4. October is one of the most important months in the Wellbeing Team’s calendar – it’s Mental Health Month! We’re passionate about mental health, and these celebrations give us a chance to reinforce to all students that their wellbeing matters. 

We are pleased to offer parents/carers the opportunity to join in this conversation too. This term we are running Youth Mental Health First Aid and Tuning into Teens programs. Please see below for more information and to complete an expression of interest to participate. 

Youth Mental Health First Aid 

When: Thursday 4th December, 9am – 5pm 

 

Who: This course is particularly suitable for parents and carers living with adolescents aged between 12-18 years 

 

Cost: Approximately $70 (concession available for families experiencing financial hardship)

 

WhatYouth Mental Health First Aid teaches adults how to provide initial support to adolescents experiencing a mental health problem or crisis. In this training you will learn; 

  • The signs and symptoms of common mental health problems in young people
  • How to provide initial help
  • Where and how to get professional help
  • What sort of help has been shown by research to be effective
  • How to provide first aid in a crisis situation.

 

How to applyPlease complete an expression of interest by Friday 7th November.  

 

Tuning into Teens (TINT)

When: This program runs over six weeks. You will attend 6 x 2-hour online sessions. These will occur every Wednesday, from 10am – 12pm 5/11/2025 to 10/12/2025 (inclusive) 

 

Who: This course is particularly suitable for parents and carers living with adolescents aged between 11-18 years

 

Cost: $30 (concession rate available for families experiencing financial hardship) 

 

Details: TINT is a parenting program that: 

  • Teaches parents/carers how to work with their own and their teens emotions. 
  • Focuses on building connection between parents/carers and their children. 
  • Supports families to develop more effective ways of communicating. 
  • Reduces the risk of mental health and substance use problems in adolescents. 
  • Is facilitated by trained staff from the Student Wellbeing team
