Parent PL

To support the building of strong reading foundations, the Victorian Academy of Teaching and Leadership has developed a helpful resource, Understanding Phonics: A Guide for Parents, Carers and Families. The guide clearly explains what phonics is and why it plays such an important role in helping children become confident and fluent readers.

It also provides simple, practical ideas for supporting your child at home, from reading together to engaging in fun, sound-based games (image attached).

It’s a practical and accessible resource for any family looking to better understand how reading is taught with some fun activities to build understanding and fluency at home!

Building Works Update

It’s exciting to see the continued progress of our building works, with things tracking well across all stages. The BER works are nearing completion and are expected to be finalised within the next week, after which we will begin transitioning classes into their new learning spaces. Over the upcoming holidays, the double storey demountable will be relocated, marking another significant step forward in the project. Looking ahead, construction of the new gymnasium is scheduled to commence mid next term.

Photos of the BER works are attached and it’s terrific to see these spaces taking shape. For those interested in keeping up to date with progress and what is coming next, please refer to the works schedule displayed in the BER windows and near the portables.

Industrial Action

The Australian Education Union (AEU) has indicated that it intends a full-day stop work on Tuesday 24 March 2026. At this stage we do not know the exact impact on our school’s operations.

Our school is currently working through our operating arrangements for that day and will receive the information about staff that will be away by 5:00pm on Friday 20 March. We will ensure we communicate to you any change of operating arrangements by 2:00pm on Monday 23 March 2026.

Neurodiversity Week

This week we recognise Neurodiversity Week, an important opportunity to celebrate the diversity of learners within our community. We are proud to be a school that supports and values both neurotypical and neurodiverse students equally, with each bringing unique perspectives, strengths and ways of thinking that enrich our classrooms and broader community. Neurodivergent learners add great value not only to our school, but to the world our students will help shape!

Social Media Opportunity

We are currently seeking a member of our community who may have experience or expertise in social media marketing to support the school in this space. Over the past few years, Lindsay Stoneham has done a wonderful job building our profile and creating engaging and useful content that reflects the life of the school, and we are very grateful for her contribution.

If this is an area you have experience in and would be interested in supporting, I would love to hear from you. Please feel free to get in touch with me directly.

District Swimming

Congratulations to our students who represented the school at District Swimming. Our boys 4 x 50m freestyle relay team (Dexter, Oscar, Rhys and Jack) continued their remarkable run, winning their event for the third consecutive year, and placing a close second in the medley relay. Individually, Oscar claimed the 50m breaststroke title for the third year in a row, while Jack secured first place in the 50m butterfly. A fantastic achievement!
