Primary School

This week, we welcomed prospective 2027 Kindergarten students and their families to the first of our three Grammar Experience sessions. It was wonderful to see so many families engaging with our school community and gaining a sense of life at Moama Anglican Grammar.

While the children participated in engaging classroom learning experiences, parents attended an information session followed by a guided tour of the school. These sessions provide a valuable opportunity for families to connect with our staff, learn more about our approach to teaching and learning, experience our learning environments, and better understand the journey into Kindergarten at Moama Anglican Grammar.

Kinder Parent Reading Information Night

At Moama Anglican Grammar, we recognise the important role parents play in supporting their child’s development as a reader. To strengthen the connection between reading at home and reading at school, we recently invited parents to attend our annual Reading Information Night.

During the session, the Kindergarten Team shared the theory that underpins our approach to teaching reading and explained how this is reinforced using home readers. Parents were also guided through the importance of establishing consistent reading routines at home. A key message throughout the evening was the value of making reading a positive and enjoyable experience for children.

We sincerely thank all families who were able to attend. Supporting children to learn to read is a shared partnership between home and school, and we greatly value the strong collaboration with our families as we work together to support our youngest learners.

Year 6 Peer Support Program

Each year, our Year 6 students participate in the Peer Support program, an initiative that provides valuable opportunities for students to step beyond their comfort zones and develop leadership skills. Through this program, Year 6 students guide and support younger peers in meaningful and connected learning experiences, while also working collaboratively with their classmates to plan, organise and facilitate each session.

This term, the Peer Support program has focused on Harmony Day. Harmony Day celebrates Australia’s rich cultural diversity and highlights the importance of inclusion, respect and appreciation for the stories, traditions and cultures of all who call Australia home. The 2026 theme, ‘Everyone Belongs’, encourages everyone to play an active role in creating an inclusive and respectful community.

As part of this focus, the Year 6 students led an engaging and informative craft activity for our Primary students, designed to promote the key messages of Harmony Day. The session provided a wonderful opportunity for students to connect across year levels, strengthening relationships and fostering a strong sense of belonging within our Primary School.

Spotlight on Year 2

Year 2 students have been busy growing plants as part of their Science unit ‘Growing and Changing’ with Mrs Jennings (2A) and Mrs Tonkin (2B). Throughout the unit, they explored how living things grow and change, observing how plants developed in different types of soil.

During their learning, students:

  • recorded how their plants changed over time using simple, consistent measurements and a range of technologies.
  • shared their observations clearly and honestly through drawings, labels, informal measurements and digital tools.
  • enjoyed the challenge of looking after their plant’s health and watching it grow (or not grow).

Primary Assembly

On Friday 13 March, the Primary School community came together for the first Primary Assembly in our new Multi-Purpose Stadium. I would like to congratulate Sophie Frazer and Oscar Bull, two of our Year 6 School Leaders, for confidently running the Assembly. We enjoyed beautiful and confident performances from Kaitlin Goodsell and Fletcher Smith on piano, and Sayuni Hettiarachchige sang the heartfelt song ‘From This Moment On’ by Shania Twain.

Hamish Moon and Harry Nichol shared highlights from their excursion to the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Melbourne on Thursday 5 March. The boys treated us to an engaging and exciting slideshow, filled with images that captured the energy of the day and showcased the memorable experience enjoyed by the students who attended. As part of the excursion, the boys visited the Monash University Innovation Hub, where they explored the intersection of science, technology and engineering in the world of motorsport. They also had the opportunity to watch the V8 Supercars in action, adding to what was an unforgettable and inspiring experience.

The Kindergarten students treated the audience to a joyful and engaging performance. Our youngest learners confidently sang ‘Ciao Buongiorno’, an Italian song that introduces basic greetings and polite expressions, followed by a lively Days of the Week song. The item also included a short video capturing highlights of the students’ learning journey so far, giving families a wonderful insight into classroom life and the many experiences Kindergarten students have enjoyed since starting school. It was a lovely celebration of their enthusiasm, growth and willingness to give things a go.

Message from the Office

We warmly invite parents, grandparents, carers and other significant family members to join us for our annual Easter Celebrations on Thursday 2 April, the final day of term. The morning will begin with our much‑loved Easter Bonnet Parade in the Undercover Area (UCA) at 9:00am. We encourage all students to get creative and come to school wearing their own personalised Easter bonnet.

Following the parade, families are invited to join the children in their classrooms for a range of Easter craft activities. We are very much looking forward to a joyful morning and the opportunity to spend time connecting with our families.
