Performing Arts

Welcome to Term 3 in Performing Arts!

We have an exciting term ahead, with lots of new skills to learn as well as preparation for our Arts Extravaganza in Term 4.

Preps have been practicing actions and expression using their bodies, faces and voices. We will continue working on these skills as well as some imaginative play and improvisation skills throughout term 3. They have also started some group singing, focusing on dynamics and pitch.

Students in grades 1,2,3 and 4 have kicked off this semester with a drama unit. They have started with a focus on understanding expression, action, and levels through some activities on tableau and mirroring. Throughout the term we will practice these skills and more through learning about some famous fairytales and stories.

Grade 5 and 6 students have started a Drama unit on martial arts and stage combat, learning about the art of controlled movement. They will also be developing some lyric writing skills in the coming weeks, and diving into a unit on hip hop and rap music.
