Visual Arts

with Ms Popovic & Mrs Fitzpatrick

Welcome back to the art room!

Preps, Grade 1s and 2s are kicking off their Term 3 with some paper weaving. We have been practicing using the words "over" and "under", and have learned some new terms like 'loom', 'warp' and 'weft'. Students have used their bodies to make a human loom and practiced going over and under the warp threads held by their friends, before making their own paper loom ready to weave through strips of paper.

Grade 3 and 4 students finished off their Graffiti wall art and participated in a nature flat lay lesson. We foraged outside for bits of nature like leaves, flowers, gumnuts, sticks and bark, then had a go at creating a nature flat lay.

Grade 5 & 6 students have continued to work on their graffiti fences and are eagerly awaiting the arrival of some timber for the stands to complete the project.

Later in the term we will begin making costume and prop items for our Arts Extravaganza concert. If you can assist with donating any of the following items, it would be VERY much appreciated!

  • Crochet/knitting/crafting yarn/balls of wool (any type!)
  • Simple plastic head bands
  • Glasses (that we can take the lenses out of)
  • Plain black sunglasses
  • Photo frames A3 size or larger (No glass! We just need the frame)
  • Wire coat hangers
  • New stockings/pantyhose in packaging – we want to make wings!
