Literacy
Students will begin looking at the text features of Explanation Texts. This unit will have students focusing on explaining how things happen, or why. This unit will allow students to explore key concepts to develop their writing skills as they continue to work through the 5 stages of Writing. Later in the term, students will begin writing Hybrid texts. In Reading, there will be a focus on a range of reading skills such as critiquing, summarising, synthesising, analysing and inferring.
Numeracy
Students will explore a range of math areas this term including shape, angles, time, while also developing their order of operations to work knowledge through real world tasks and engaging games. Students will also be investigating transformations and number properties applied to algebra and location. Our Maths lessons aim to engage the students learning of concepts and skills through hands on activities and technology. There will be many opportunities for students to participate in whole group and partner work, as well as focused small groups.
Inquiry
Students will research the proportions of the Australian population as well as the differences in the demographic, economic, social and cultural characteristics of countries across the world. Students will use a range of resources such as an Atlas and data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics to compare aspects of selected countries and cultures.
