End of Term
Term 3 has finished on a high note with our discos last week and our Footy Day celebrations this week. Our Footy Day sausage sizzle raised a total of $1298.85 which will go towards some playground equipment in the front playground. And our discos raised just over $2000 for Year 6 Big Day Out. This afternoon we all watched Clyde TV and celebrated the learning students have done this term.
We have had a terrific Term 3, so have earned ourselves a rest, so we will be ready and raring to go in Term 4. I will be on long service leave for the first 2 weeks of term and Mrs Kate Couacaud will be Acting Principal during this time.
Term 4 is already looking like a busy one, with our Year 5 and 6 students heading off to Camp Coonawarra on the Wednesday and our Year 4s attending swimming lessons in the second week. Term Four starts on Monday 7th of October.
Happy holidays!!
Principal's Awards
It's always a pleasure to have a special lunch with our Principal Award winners. Congratulations goes to..
Professional Learning
Our staff have been participating in professional learning, including webinars, school visits and conferences around planning for the implementation of the revised Victorian Teaching and Learning Model from 2025 and, the revised Victorian position on teaching reading. These areas of work will enable us to further enhance the levels of excellence being attained by our students. Further work in these areas will be shared with our school community next term.
Summer Lightning Premiership
On Tuesday 10th September, we had 63 Year 5 and 6 students head to Casey Stadium or to Camms Reserve to compete in either Basketball, Volleyball, Blast Cricket or Softball.
All the students had a great day and did really well. All teams got some wins, some losses and we even had some draws across the day. They all showed good teamwork and sportsmanship, it was great to see. A huge congratulations to our Girls Volleyball team who have made it to Division, which will take place on 18th October.
Staff VS Year 6 Netball
On Monday 16th September, we had 4 teams of Year 6 students compete against our Staff in a game of Netball. It was a really fun game! Some great teamwork and sportsmanship from both teams. The students showed a great deal of resilience, as the staff won 25-3!
Division Athletics
On Wednesday 18th September, we had 11 students compete at Division Athletics. This was our biggest number of students competing at this level, which is fantastic.
We also had a very successful day, with 6 students (so far) making it to Regionals, our best result ever! They will compete on Monday 21st October. This is such a great achievement for the students.
The hurdle events were cancelled on the day due to very windy weather and those students will now compete on Monday 14th October, and if they place 1st or 2nd, will also have the opportunity to compete at Regionals.
A huge congratulations and well done to the following students for making it to Regionals:
Whooping cough
Whooping cough cases are continuing to increase across Victoria, particularly among school-aged children. Whooping cough is a very contagious infection, mostly spread through coughing or sneezing. Symptoms include:
· blocked or runny nose
· tiredness
· mild fever
· severe bouts of coughing, often followed by a ‘whooping’ sound on breathing.
Whooping cough can lead to life threatening infections in babies.
If your child is unwell, they should not attend school. Please see a doctor if you or your child develops whooping cough symptoms. Early diagnosis and treatment will help reduce the spread of the infection.
Students diagnosed with whooping cough must not attend school. If your child is diagnosed with whooping cough, they must not attend school for 21 days after the onset of the cough, or until they have received 5 days of antibiotic treatment. You must notify the school if your child is diagnosed with whooping cough. To further reduce the spread of infection to your child and the school community, the Public Health and Wellbeing Regulations 2019 require that some students who were in the same classroom as a student diagnosed with whooping cough should not attend school.
Your child should not attend school for 14 days after they were last exposed to a person diagnosed with whooping cough, or until they have taken 5 days of a course of antibiotic treatment if they are:
· aged less than 7 years; and
· not fully vaccinated with 3 doses of whooping cough (pertussis) vaccine.
If your child is diagnosed with whooping cough, please contact the school to let us know.
Smile Squad
Smile Squad will be returning to our school at the beginning of Term 4 and will see those students who visited the squad earlier in the year and were given a follow up letter, these dental sessions will take place over the first half of the term.
