Year 8 Food Technology – Lumination Lab

Last Semester, Year 8 students explored the importance of seasonal and local food. To further understand the importance of food security, students used virtual reality to map their access to food. They compared a range of locations, both urban and rural to understand the landscape and conditions for food growth. They were able to visit the Barossa Valley, far north SA and even their local neighbourhoods. It was a great catalyst for discussion as the students were able to visualise where their food comes from. They were also able to immerse themselves in different environments to understand the key determinants for food access and security.
