VOCABULARY

Synthesise 

- combining what you already know with what you are learning in a text. 

Non- Fiction 

- based on facts, information that is true.

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

Ask students to synthesise a Non-fiction text using the following sentence starters. 

Before reading:  

At first, I was thinking… 

• using personal knowledge  

During reading:  

Now I am thinking… 

• What new information did you read? 

After reading: 

I think…  

• What do you think now? 
• What changed your thinking?
