From the Classroom

Grade 5/6G

Welcome to Term Three. Even though the weather was not that kind to us, we do hope that you had a restful and enjoyable break. This term is jam packed once again, so strap yourselves in and enjoy the ride!

Last week we had the pleasure of attending the WPAC, to partake in the ‘The Peasant Prince’ performance.  The children had been undertaking a book study to prepare for this and we thoroughly enjoyed the performance.

Parent Teacher Interviews were held last week and it was wonderful to catch up with so many of you and discuss your child’s learning achievements.

We are currently preparing for the Sandhurst Arts on Show, which will be held on 4th September.  The team from ASPA (Australia School of Performing Arts) have been visiting us and helping hone our skills.  This is an exciting time for our students as we come together with other schools and get to sing and dance our hearts out.

This term our Religious Unit is Life Relationships and we thank you for your continued support to both your children and to our staff.  There is a requirement for all Victorian Schools to address aspects of personal development within their core curriculum provision. One of the main aims of the program is to open or maintain lines of communication and hence foster healthy relationships.

Our Inquiry is ‘Ethics and Emotions’ and our guiding questions for this unit are

What does it mean to be honest?

How am I influenced by others?

What can you say when you don’t want to do something that someone is pressuring you to do?

This unit fits in wonderfully with our Religious Education Unit.

Within in our literacy we will be working on our skills to summarise a text.  We will be creating a matchbook summary to assist us with this.  Our mathematics this term will include identifying 3D and 2D Shapes, Location and Transformation as well as Place Value.

Please feel free to get in touch if you have any concerns or questions and we look forward to a productive Term Three!
