Classroom Reports
F/1A - Foundation and Year 1A
Welcome back to Term 3. This term in Inquiry, we are all becoming meteorologists and investigating the weather. We will be learning how the weather makes us think about what to wear and the things we do. So far, our weather chart has had lots of pictures of wind, and the words freezing and chilly. We ‘re hoping this can change to sunny on Friday for our House Athletics. On these cold days, don’t forget to make sure children have a jumper and that it is clearly named.
In Numeracy, we have started learning about ‘fair shares. The grocery shop is now a pizza shop, equipped with ovens and opportunities to make play-dough pizzas. We are making sure that each slice has the same toppings on them! Come in and order your favourite pizza. You won’t be disappointed.

Hello Parents/ Caregivers and Community Members
What a super start to Term 3. The students are doing a fantastic job in The Reading Olympics keep logging those minutes in the diaries.
We have learnt the sound w and the diagraphs ss, ll, ff and ck.
Could you also please remember to get your children to do their homework. This is a way of reinforcing their learning at school.
Our Inquiry we are focusing on the weather. We have created a word wall and are moving on to looking at temperature.
In Maths we have been exploring division. The students are gaining a better knowledge of fair share and equally.
In Digital Technology we have learnt how to make a word document. You should have heard the excitement in the room when the learnt how to make capital letters and change the font size and colours. Thanks for your help Will.

Welcome back to Term 3 to all Grade 2 families!
Lucky Mrs Mac is off on a holiday adventure this term. We hope she brings us back some dinosaur bones! While Mrs Mac is away, Mrs Tammy Wright will be teaching Grade 2 on Thursdays and Friday. Mrs Wright used to work at Wedderburn College, so it's great to have her back for a while.
We ended last term with an exciting surprise visitor…
As we had been learning about sea turtles, Patrick brought his pet turtle, Rex, in for a visit. Check out the photos to see what a river turtle looks like up close!
This term in Inquiry, we are learning about old and new technology. We already have a typewriter, a rotary phone, an old Nokia ‘brick’ mobile phone and an SLR film camera in our classroom to explore. If you have any technology relics at home, such as floppy disks, cassette players, etc., that you don’t mind the students handling, we’d love to have them in our classroom to investigate.
We have begun the term in Maths by focusing on different ways to think about and represent multiplication: making models of equal groups, drawing diagrams, using repeated addition, skip-counting and writing multiplication number sentences. This week we completed a maths task that involved making crazy fish with lots of eyes to practise our multiplication skills.
In writing, we have kicked off with ‘sizzling starts’, which are strategies for engaging a reader so they are excited to keep reading our writing.
Grade 2 continues to be a strong competitor in the Reading Olympics, logging plenty of home reading minutes. Keep up the great active learning Grade 2!

Year 5 & 6
Term 3 is another busy term jammed packed with events and activities. We're ready to enjoy the Olympics and learn about different countries, sports and cultures. Did you know breakdancing is an Olympic sport?
This week students will receive some preliminary information about camp. We're heading back to 'Cottage by the Sea' at Queenscliff.
I am looking forward to a busy term full of learning, experiences and memorable moments.

Year 5 & 6 Art
ARTIST FOCUS Clay is the most direct route from what's in your head to what's in your hands," said Taiwanese-American artist Stephanie H Shih about the medium of ceramics, and it's something she's held onto through her work. "I love looking at an object I've never sculpted before – like an egg carton or a loaf of challah (Jewish-origin bread) – and figuring out how to turn it into a hollow ceramic form."
Shih creates ceramic collections that centre on mundane, traditional, yet mass-produced pantry items found in many Asian-American homes. Think Spam, Skippy peanut butter, Horlicks, KitKats, Asian vinegar and condiments, rice and confectionery.
Her lifelike presentation of these objects aims to explore their transportation across cultures to understand their integration into different societies and varied affiliations across diasporas. Born and based in the US, Shih's work weaves in aspects of her heritage to translate her understanding of her mixed identity – with her parents hailing from Taiwan.
Year 5 & 6 Art Class with Ms Herrington have created creative food using terracotta clay and acrylic paint.
They look good enough to eat!!!!!
See them on display in the front foyer.

Year 10
It was a busy finish to Term 2, with the Year 10’s attending the Snow Camp followed by a week of Work Experience. Big thank you to all businesses who had our students. This really does expose them to potential areas of work in the future. It was fantastic to hear that some students were even offered work or invited to come back.
Just a reminder, you are expected to email your teacher to get work if you’re away. This includes submitting your homework on or before the due date. Thank you to the students who already do this.
Finally, remember to get dressed up for our annual House Athletics on Friday. It is going to be a fantastic day and we would like to see everyone there and participating.
