Athletics Carnival - Week 2 – 26 July

Ansett have won both the Swimming and Cross Country Carnivals. Is it Jacka's turn to win the Athletics ……who is it going to be?

Remember our SWPBS expected behaviours from our matrix are ‘I will participate’ and ‘I will keep trying’. Therefore, to help your house win, you need to attend dressed in the most magnificent house colours, participate in as many events as possible and keep trying your hardest.  Every event you go in means points for your house, most points wins…. simple isn’t it!

Prizes to be won……

  1.  Prize A– any homeroom that has 100% attendance to our athletics carnival will receive a free whole class lunch at our new College Café.
  2. Prize B – any homeroom that has 100% participation, (students participate in at least one event) will receive a free whole class lunch at our College Café. (Attendance must be at least 85% and above to qualify for Prize B)
  3.  Prize C – we have 22 College Café Vouchers to the value of $5 and $10. Each homeroom will be allocated two vouchers to award to the best dressed students in that homeroom.  Your homeroom teacher will decide; get thinking, get organised and get dressed up!

Think about it……if everybody in your homeroom attends, if everybody in your homeroom participates and you are the best dressed, you could be eating from our new College Café for ever! Imagine all the hedgehogs you could eat! Wow Wee! Mr Forrest is going down…………..Go Ansett!!!!!

LEARNING CONVERSATIONS

As published in our Calendar - Learning Conversations will be held next week on Wednesday 24th July from 1.30pm until 6.00pm. Students will have normal scheduled classes on this day however, they are expected to attend their Learning Conversations with you. Interviews are now open to book on Compass.  All Parents, Guardians and Carers are required to book their own interviews. Information on how to book interviews with your students’ teachers is below. Interviews are 10 minutes in length and we ask you to adhere strictly to these times, in order to accommodate all people.

How to Book a Learning Conversation:

  1. Log onto Compass
  2. On your home screen where your student’s photo is, there will be an option to ‘Book Parent Teacher Interviews’
  3. Click on this button which will take you to a timetable.
  4. Select your student
  5. Click on the dropdown menu under the heading ‘Time Slots’ next to the teacher you would like to meet
  6. Select your time and look for the word “booked’ under the ’Status’ tab.
  7. Repeat the steps above if required.

If you are unable to access Compass, or experience any problems, please contact the College Office to make your appointments on 5494 3011 during business hours. On the day of your Learning Conversations, please enter through the front entrance (Hospital St), come up our new ramp to the BER and you will be directed to the appropriate area for your interviews. We would like to see as many parents/carers as possible.  If your child's numeracy and literacy levels are below standard or their attendance is below 95%, expect a phone call or email requesting you to book a time to come in and discuss how we can improve where your child is at. We would like your child to attend with you and school uniform is not required after school hours. Sometimes it’s hard to know what to ask your child's teacher - below is a list of questions you could possibly ask.

  1. How is my child doing at school?
  2. What are my child’s strengths and weaknesses?
  3. Is my child at standard? Especially for Literacy and Numeracy
  4. How can I help at home with my child’s education?
  5. How does my child interact with other students?
  6. Does my child contribute to class discussion and appear happy in the subject?
  7. How does my child’s performance compare to that of previous years?
