General Information & Reminders

Ipads

To help maintain a focused and distraction-free learning environment, we ask that students only have school-related apps visible on their iPad home screens. Any personal or gaming apps should be placed in a separate folder on a different screen. This supports students in using their devices responsibly during learning time.

In line with the Department of Education’s statewide policy, students are not permitted to send or receive messages during school hours. If you need to get in touch with your child, please contact the school office directly.

To ensure appropriate use, iPads and other smart devices will be securely stored in a classroom safe or designated drawer when not in use for learning.

We also remind all families that iPads must come to school fully charged each day so that students are ready for all digital learning tasks.

Thank you for your continued support in promoting safe, respectful, and responsible technology use at school.

Homework Expectations and Guidelines

Homework will be assigned weekly and should be submitted either through Google Classroom or in student workbooks, depending on the task. While there may be occasional exceptions throughout the year, regular homework will focus on consolidating class learning and building independence. Tasks will typically include Mathematics revision, reading comprehension, writing activities, and research tasks connected to our Inquiry unit.

To support strong study habits and prepare students for the demands of secondary school, we encourage all students to develop a homework routine that helps them manage their time effectively.

We also ask families to engage with their child’s homework—discuss the tasks, review completed work, and provide feedback before submission. Students are expected to check and edit their work carefully before handing it in.

In Term 2, it is expected that all Year 6 students allocate time to the following each week (excluding Week 1 and Week 6 due to Camp):

  • Reading: A minimum of 20 minutes per day, 5 days per week
  • Writing: 30 minutes per week (can be broken into smaller sessions)
  • Mathematics: 30 minutes per week
  • Inquiry: 30 minutes per week

We appreciate your support in fostering independence and responsibility in our learners.
